Tyler Graves
Hailed by The New York Times as a “particularly agile” vocalist, Tyler Azelton is a singer, pianist, drummer, composer, educator, conductor, accompanist, and choir director who brings nearly two and a half decades of musical experience into every aspect of her teaching and her life.
She has been singing and playing piano since the age of 7, and has been involved in opera, musical theater, jazz and madrigal ensembles, rock bands, wedding bands, and concert choirs ever since.
Tyler’s experiences as a singer-songwriter and a chorister have enabled her to perform around the globe from the Hollywood Bowl to Carnegie Hall to the Festival of Lights in Bulgaria. As a pianist with both classical and pop/rock training, she has a highly creative approach to teaching that takes into account her students’ unique skills, using a wealth of specialized, age-appropriate tools to make music fun and capable of imbuing her students with self-discipline, ease, and the spirit of creativity within themselves.
Self-expression and self-actualization are the greater goals that she hopes to support in her students, and it is her immense privilege to have cheered her students on…sometimes for a decade or even longer.
In addition to teaching private music lessons and performing regularly, Tyler Azelton works as a studio singer, and has sung on 9 movie soundtracks including Race to Witch Mountain, Earth, Click, Lady in the Water, X-Men 3, Mission Impossible 3, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, The Notorious Bettie Page, and The Princess Diaries 2. She sang with the Los Angeles Master Chorale for 11 glorious years, performing at Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Hollywood Bowl under Gustavo Dudamel in addition to many other heavyweight conductors, and her compositions and playing can be found on Apple Music under the album name: Awake at the Funeral, with her rock band, Deep 6 Holiday.
